“I think one of his biggest attributes was his head and his mind and how good he was in that regard,” McIlroy said. He further added that although he and Tiger have similar physical aspects, the young golfer needs to work more to create strong mental stability.

Rory McIlroy believes Tiger Woods brought diversity in the world of golf.

“Tiger’s left more of a mark on this game,” said the Irishman. He pointed out that ever since the sport has become a profession, the golfers are considered the face of golf. Because of Woods‘ ethnicity, people would find the sport more welcoming towards all people in spite of their race.

“I certainly think the game is more diverse because of him,” added McIlroy. He further added that Tiger’s game changed the entire outlook of golf. The sport got much exposure because of Tiger’s victories in the 2000s, and it benefited other players as well. “TV paid more. Sponsors paid more,” McIlroy said.

The 32-year-old golfer stated, “I think we all have to be very thankful for Tiger Woods.”
