The European trophy went to a European player this year. Rory took the aid of a round of six birdies and four bogeys and finish at 15-under today. His birdie at the last two holes brought him much closer to victory, which he claimed by one stroke at the end. And this victory is extra special. Because with his tournament Rory became the only player to win The Scottish Open, The Open Championship, and The Irish Open. At the after-conference when Rory was asked about his views on the same, he replied that this is a very cool experience to have.

McIlroy said “I didn’t know that. That’s really cool, especially a player coming from this part of the world where those three tournaments mean a lot to us. It’s another National Open. I’ve sort of taken on National Opens over the years, racking up a few of them, and yeah that’s a pretty cool accolade to have.”
National Opens are a thing for the 4 times major winner who has collected some of them. This is his second win on the European Tour this year after winning Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January and the overall 16th win on the Tour. It is evident that his happiness is beyond limits on the occasion.

The holy Trinity of National Opens for Rory McIlroy
McIlroy started on this path in 2014 after winning the Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool where the tournament will be returning next year. His Irish Open victory was extra special as it was in his homeland and was cherished by the golfer. And he also performed a noble deed as his foundation hosted the tournament, his prize of £515,500 (€666,660) donated entirely to charity. And now with the Scottish Open, he has made a hattrick at the National Open Wins.
