Scottie Scheffler is in a league of his own. The World No.1 is showing shades of his dominance from last year with an exemplary performance at the TPC Craig Ranch, where he carded a 61 to take a two-stroke lead over the rest of the field. Scheffler was especially brutal on the front nine, carding five birdies and a brilliant eagle to kick-start the day.
His group itself stands out. Scheffler is currently playing with South Korean golfer Kim Si Woo and the Brilliant Jordan Spieth. Scheffler was asked about the group post his first round, and he gave his candid thoughts then. “Jordan is a guy I have played golf with for a long time,” Scheffler stated. All three of them are playing at their home event at the CJ Cup, the Byron Nelson, and there seems to be that extra verve accompanying them.
Kim Si Woo and Scheffler have been partners at the same golf course over the years and enjoy their off weekends together. So there is this fond connection that is within the group. Scheffler explained, “Si, Woo and I actually are members of the same club in Dallas. And we play a lot on the weekends together with the same group of guys.”

Spieth and Kim did not get the consistency Scheffler was getting at the Texas course. Spieth carded a 2-under par for the day, finishing at T80. Kim Si Woo, on the other hand, had a timely eagle to rescue two strokes and finish with a score of 4 under par. But playing together would seemingly evoke memories in the minds of the professional golfers. “And they are two of my good buddies out here, and (we) had a lot of fun today.” Scheffler expressed delight.

The ‘Had a lot of fun today’ statement by Scottie Scheffler would be a delight for golfing fans, as that means that he is really enjoying his time out on the golf course. That could be one explanation for his outstanding performance on day one. The more of the same, then! The whole day was fun indeed, as evidenced by the South Korean golfer’s quirky antics on the golf course during the first round of play.
Scheffler reacts to Kim Si-Woo’s funny incident
After chipping in for an eagle at the 18 hole, Kim Si Woo’s celebration was iconic. He rolled onto his back, unable to contain his excitement. Scheffler, who was his partner, recalled the incident, albeit with some footnotes. “He is probably one of the funniest guys we have on TOUR,” Scottie Scheffler stated.

It was a much-needed break for the South Korean, as he had struggled all day with three birdies and a bogey. The timely eagle helped push him to T39 on the leaderboard. “He just has really good comedic timing, and he is the best. Si Woo is undefeated. So that was not surprising. You know, he’s really good at golf, but the reaction always gets a good laugh out of us.” The World No.1 further added.
