Many things seem impossible in the golf world and while the chances of making $15 million by diving into a golf pond may seem pretty slim, they’re never zero. Yes, let us take you back to 2015 when a man did the same thing and left the whole world shocked! Almost 9 years ago a man named Glenn Berger said goodbye to his bad days when he started diving into the golf ponds on golf courses all around Florida.
Berger’s journey from unemployment to millionaire is nothing short of amazing. After losing his job, Berger decided to take a leap of faith and started his quest for lost golf balls on Florida courses. “I was partially unemployed and I was stealing golf balls out of a golf course lake where I lived and I realized that wasn’t the way to make money … this business just blew up,” he said, per News.com. He did for 14 years, and in 2015 the diver declared that he had made a staggering $15 million which is more than what some golfers get after winning a PGA Tour game. Jay Monahan and Co. should really be taking notes here.
Recently, the incredible story surfaced again on Instagram, and Ways to Golf posted a video of Berger with the caption, “What a way to make a living 😯”. And really, what a way! Berger’s secret to success came from selling 1.3 to 1.7 million balls globally each year. That’s over 5,480 balls daily! But the journey wasn’t easy in any way as he had to overcome deadly obstacles to get the dozens of golf balls he wanted.

Yes, like many things in the world, Berger had to work hard to make the money he flaunts today. Any guesses as to what he overcame? Well, we’ll give you a hint – They’re not very friendly!
Glenn Berger had to deal with alligators during his time as a golf diver
Like any other human being, Berger was also afraid of snakes and alligators. However, did he let them stop him? No, not at all. He says that he had to face snakes, turtles, and all other kinds of small aquatic animals during his quests for golf balls. ” So I have fish, snakes, turtles, and all those fun things running into me all the time”, he said.

Berger also took his time to acknowledge that being a scuba driver is no easy job. “Scuba diving is a dangerous sport as it is.” He also shared that he does not like to talk about his experience with alligators. “I really don’t like to talk about alligators but they happen and you learn how to deal with them”. But he had to face a terrifying moment in 2007 when a huge 2-meter alligator crawled onto his back while he was diving for golf balls. However, Berger escaped safely and still managed to collect 4,000 balls that day. So what do you think about his business and bravery? Let us know in the comment section below!
