Rickie Fowler is not doing very great on the PGA Tour. His last victory was at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic in July. It has been more than 1.5 years since then. Last season was a hard miss for him. He appeared in 23 events, and missed cuts in six of them. That was not all for the miseries.
He finished in the top 10 only once. Failing to win last year, did not earn him a spot at the Sentry, and neither was he a part of the Sony Open. The 36-year-old kickstarted the new season on Thursday with the American Express. And well, he is not doing badly. After two rounds of scoring under par, he is currently at T8 on the leaderboard with Nick Taylor and Justin Thomas.
If he continues the momentum, who knows, he might end up having a great season. His last appearance was at the Grant Thornton Invitational in December where he finished T14. When asked if he credits himself for a good play after a break, at least after only scoring a 69 on the first day, and then carding a bogey-free round of 62.

At the post-round presser, he said, “There’s a little bit, but also there’s the expectations, and I know I’ve been playing well and I’ve had some good practice and prep leading up to earlier this week getting ready to go yesterday, so, yeah, it was a bit shaky, wasn’t great, but also at least salvaged somewhat acceptable round of golf with the start we had. Had to be a little bit happy with that, after hitting a tree and the ball going OB, and having a ball get stuck in a tree, so a few funny things happened, but other than that, yeah, nice to pick up from there and get going today.”
Rickie Fowler has done all he could to make a comeback this year. He even changed his equipment. Early in the week, he was spotted testing a never-before-seen 13.5-degree Cobra 2-wood prototype, nicknamed “The Deuce.” He seems to be liking it so far as he spoke highly of it with the PGA Tour.
The club “has become a little bit more of a hot club in a way, just for the versatility. And more so with left-to-right winds, and still being able to get it out there a decent ways. Not as far as driver, but just another option to have. I hit it for the first time Thursday of last week, was able to do a little testing here (at The American Express), but a lot of good stuff. I’m getting very similar numbers and launch conditions to the TaylorMade (BRNR) head that I’ve been hitting. (“The Deuce”) might launch a touch higher, which isn’t a bad thing, especially if you’re hitting it off the deck,” said Fowler.
While most of the PGA Tour pros utilize their offseason breaks to clear off their head and relax, Fowler’s looked a little different as he was eager to get back in the winner’s circle.

Rickie Fowler stepped up his offseason training, leaving fans amazed at his intense workout routine. Just before Christmas, his trainer, Derek Smidt, shared a glimpse into his regimen: the ECC (Eccentric) Overload Split Squat using the advanced @1080motion Quantum machine. This exercise focuses on boosting lower-body strength and stability—crucial for enhancing swing speed and consistency on the course.
The 2023 Rocket Mortgage champion wasn’t holding back, tackling a jaw-dropping 130 kg on the way down and 30 kg on the way up. While it may seem grueling, this strategic training aligns with Fowler’s major aspirations for this season, aiming to elevate his game even further.
Not just a gym-goer but a dedicated athlete, Fowler’s hard work proves he’s leaving no stone unturned in pursuit of his goals. Fans can’t wait to see how this newfound strength translates onto the golf course. Are you excited for Rickie Fowler to finally make a comeback? Let us know in the comments section below!
