Everyone has a crazy college story to share! Well, so does PGAT’s heartthrob, Rickie Fowler! The golfer was an Uber driver on his campus, and that too was for free. This sure is an astounding story for everyone, but for Fowler, it was a memorable moment spent with his friends that he still cherishes. The 6x PGA Tour winner has been in the news because of his recent sponsorship drifts. But, even during the unpleasant times, he doesn’t forget to be the cheerful self that he is renowned for.

The pro made a special appearance on a podcast and reminisced about his college days. It seems that in his college days, except for those two times when he drank, the Oklahoma grad had become the designated Uber driver for his friends.

Like most students in universities, Rickie Fowler’s friends were keen on enjoying life as well! In his recent appearance on the I Can Fly podcast, the 34-year-old golfer was reunited with his college friend, Morgan Hoffman, who co-hosts the podcast alongside Jeg Coughlin III.

The two were reminiscing when Hoffman asked Fowler about any stories from Oklahoma State University. The Jupiter resident explained he doesn’t have any “too crazy of stories,” though he remembers drinking twice and driving everyone around (two different stories). So the story goes that Fowler had an EVO at the time. But he used to drive his teammate Mark Johnson’s Yukon as it fit more people.

He recalled that there were “so many different memories” in his college years. One was when he would be driving and Mark would be blasting music in the passenger seat. Fowler also laughed as he remembered how safely he used to drop off people, being the “only sober one.” He said it was his duty to make “sure that everyone’s getting from point A to point B and home eventually.”

Moreover, he described being the designated driver not only for the golf team, but also for some basketball and football guys. He recounted the fond memories and said, “I was the Uber for the golf team and some of the others.” Through his Uber driver side hustle, Fowler lived a hilarious 1 a.m. McDonald’s story in college.

As the sober guy and designated Uber driver, Rickie Fowler once dropped everyone off at their places. As he was lying in bed, Folwer said that one guy texted or called him right after they had “gotten back” around 1:30 a.m. The Oklahoma alum saw the text that said, “‘Hey Mike, can you take me to some McDonald’s?’

As a nice human Fowler is, he decided that he would get up from his bed at night and get the man some McDonald’s. He explained that he didn’t want “them finding another way” to reach the establishment. Eventually, Fowler helped the guy and got him some food from there. The six-time PGA Tour winner got away from college friends as he got busy with his professional life. He further expressed his regret for not meeting them often.

Although Fowler is going through some tough days now, he was fortunate to recently rekindle his friendship with a former teammate.
