Not world-famous, but golf indeed is a sport with big numbers involved. Given its level of difficulty and intensity, all professional golfers receive big paychecks at the end of every tournament.
This is possible as golf tournaments are sponsored by big brands, further enabling players to win huge amounts of prize money. As a result, many tour pros live a rather extravagant lifestyle, deservingly so.
Notably, in an act of giving back to society, golfers are often seen playing against each other in exhibition matches, where they generate a huge sum for various NGOs.
