The world of golf is set to have a new era, props to the critical meeting of the top PGA Tour players in Delaware, ahead of the BMW Championship. Being the most senior player, Tiger Woods was considered to be the head of the table at the meeting. The appeals from the meeting are soon to be imposed immediately. However, fans on Twitter are unhappy with the PGA Tour.

In the meeting, Tiger Woods and fellow PGA Tour stars decided to create a Tour within a Tour. The fans have criticized the idea. However, the players believe that it will benefit the Tour as the best players face each other more often.

The second appeal was to never face the LIV Golf defectors in any of the tournaments apart from the Majors. Though this appeal is yet to be determined, PGA Tour is set to enact the first appeal.

PGA Tour set to have a Tour within a Tour

Tiger Woods was reportedly the architect of the idea during the meeting last week in Wilmington, Delaware. It was in response to the outrageous joining fees, $25M purses for events, and no-cuts in their 48-player fields of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series, which is led by Australian golfing legend Greg Norman and dividing the golfing establishment in two. The newly founded Tour has managed to attract and sign most of the best PGA Tour stars.

However, PGA Tour finally has a response for the lucrative series. According to popular Golf journalist, Dan Rapaport, PGA Tour is on the verge of initiating its first appeal. He tweeted, “Wow—so those rumored changes from the meeting are being enacted immediately. You’re going to see the top 60ish players compete against each other in about 20 PGA Tour events next year.”

This will eventually lead to the subdivision of the PGA Tour based on the rankings. Top players will face each other more frequently while the rest will have to fight their way to the top. Moreover, this will lead to much lesser fixtures similar to LIV Golf, allowing players to spend more leisure time with their families.

Though some may consider this move by the PGA Tour a masterstroke against their competitors, some also believe they are trying to emulate the LIV Golf. Some fans have even criticized 15-time Major Champion Tiger Woods for being greedy with the idea. But the Hall of Famer did have a few fans who stood by his decision.
