Known for her witty character and humor online, Paige Spiranac is among the most familiar golf faces on social media. However, the influencer sensation is also known for mixing her comedic side with a pinch of truth. In her latest jibe on Twitter, Spiranac decided to troll LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman.
Decades before controlling the Saudi-funded Tour, Greg Norman was known as one of the greatest golfers. While he may have two Open Championships to his name, the Aussie could have won a lot more in his illustrious career had he not choked on some of the winning opportunities. Paige Spiranac decided to reminisce about one of Norman’s collapses in her latest video.

Apart from golf, Spiranac also holds knowledge of various other sports. She frequently puts them out on display during her Sportsbook’s sponsored videos on Twitter. In the most recent clip, the 30-year-old social media star talked about the ‘biggest collapse in sports history’.
While she first started the list with Atlanta Falcons‘ 28-3 choke against New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI and NFL’s second-largest comeback in history by Houston Oilers (now known as Tennessee Titans) against Buffalo Bills in the 1993 Playoffs, Spiranac then talked about golf.
She first discussed Jean van de Velde’s 1999 Open’s 3-stroke lead, which he choked at the final hole with a triple bogey at the Carnoustie Golf Links.

Paige ended the video talking about Greg Norman’s 1996 Masters performance. “We can’t have this list without the 1996 Masters,” claimed Spiranac. The Aussie led the Major in Augusta National for the first three rounds with utter dominance. The former pro golfer further added, “Greg Norman goes to the final round with 6 shot lead ends up losing by five.”
Before heading to the final round, Norman held the six-stroke lead against the British Hall of Famer Sir Nick Faldo. Nonetheless, all hell broke loose for the Shark on Sunday, as his 6-over-par resulted in him ending the Masters with a -7 total score compared to Faldo’s -13, giving the English golfer his third Green Jacket.
While Maxim’s 2022 Sexiest Woman Alive talked about the 1996 Masters, a decade before his biggest choke, Norman had one of the most terrific seasons and also his first Major triumph.

Throughout his playing days, the Aussie, though notable for his talent, was popular for his collapses on the golf course. However, the struggles reached their limit in the 1986 season when Norman struggled in most of the Majors. After losing the lead early in the final round, Norman had another chance to win the Green Jacket at the 1986 Masters.
He tied with the leader Jack Nicklaus at the 18th hole, hoping to take him for a playoff. However, the Shark bogeyed at being the ‘Holly’, giving Nicklaus his 18th and final Major title. A few months later, Norman choked another lead by scoring 75 in the final round of the US Open. However, the golfer did redeem himself at the Open Championship by winning his maiden Major.

But his misery at the other Majors continued, as he choked his 4-stroke lead at the PGA Championship after leading the tournament for the first three rounds. Regardless of his chokes in the sport, Greg Norman is still one of the best golfers from the Australian continent. If only he hadn’t given away those chances of winning, Paige Spiranac would have lesser reasons to troll the Hall of Famer.
