The final round of the US Open had everyone stuck to the edge of their seats as Wyndham Clark held off a challenge from World No. 3 Rory McIlroy to nab his very first major. After entering day four tied at the top of the leaderboard, the 29-year-old carded an impressive even-par 70 and finished with a 10-under total of 270.

Clark’s one-stroke victory over the Northern Irishman also helped him walk away with a jaw-dropping $3,600,000 in earnings, the biggest winner’s payout in the history of the tournament. While the golfer’s stunning win has been hailed by many, several couldn’t help but raise questions over one of his shots from Sunday.

After a video shared by @NUCLRGOLF on Twitter came to light, many fans wondered if Clark’s ball moved when he put a club near it in the rough. In the clip, some movement can be seen on the ball; however, it is unclear if it moved to a different spot in the rough.

The USGA has yet to comment on the controversial shot. However, this hasn’t stopped fans from debating the viral moment all over social media.

As expected, the viral LACC moment has divided fans over whether the ball moved or not. Many even clamored for a penalty after the video surfaced. One fan also drew a comparison to LIV’s Patrick Reed, who is known for his controversial brushes with the rules of golf.

Meanwhile, several golf enthusiasts came to Clark’s defense. One explained that the ball is allowed to oscillate as long as it does not change position in the rough.
