Christo Lamprecht has become the talk of the town these days. And rightly so; after all, he made birdies on three of the first six holes in his opening round at The Open. And on hole No. 14, he once again shot a stunning birdie. The South African youngster ended the round with seven birdies and a total score of five-under 66 to claim the early lead on Thursday.
Surprisingly, that wasn’t the youngster’s only achievement for the week. The 22-year-old was the only amateur to make the cut at Royal Liverpool thanks to his incredible skill. And for it, he is reviving a massive recognition too: the Silver Medal at The 151st Open. While that may be great in itself, the cherry on top remains. Lamprecht is the first ever South African amateur golfer to accomplish this!
