The caddies in Golf enjoy a good sum of money won by their respective client. Some even manage to earn a 7 figure income just through their percentage of share from a tournament’s prize money. Bryson DeChambeau shared an insight into how much he pays his caddie after an event.

Bryson DeChambeau himself has enjoyed some big cheques, thanks to his top-quality performances. Since making his debut in 2015, the 28-year-old has picked up a massive $26.6million whilst competing on the PGA Tour.

During an episode of “Full Send Podcast” with the Nelk Boys, DeChambeau was asked how much his caddie earns. The answer took everyone by surprise.

How much percentage does DeChambeau’s caddie earn?

Many golfers tend to have a fixed salary for their caddies, while many others pay a certain percentage of their prize money. Bryson DeChambeau revealed in the podcast his way of paying his caddie.

The Nelk boys asked DeChambeau if he pays a fixed 10 percent of his earnings to his caddie, to which DeChambeau replied, “No. Depending on how you play. So if you make the cut or if you miss the cut, you’re still paying a flat rate.”

Bryson DeChambeau revealed his pay structure. He said, “And if you make, if you finish top… my structure’s like 20 or something like that you make a certain percentage, and then it gets amped up when I finish top 10 and when I win, it’s ten percent.”

The Nelk Boys took the example of the FedEx cup to assume how much DeChambeau’s caddie to bag home the money. So if DeChambeau wins the FedEx Cup and claims the $15 million prize money, his caddie earns $1.5 million as his percentage. The Nelk Boys responded by saying, “Wow, what a f****** payday that is!”

Bryson DeChambeau says some Caddies earn more than the players

Bryson DeChambeau further talks about how in some instances, the caddies manage to earn more than the players themselves, especially in the Korn Ferry Tour. This is mainly because the caddies get a fixed amount while the players may not earn money every week.

DeChambeau said, “The players on the Korn Ferry Tour, the players aren’t making any money. Sometime the caddies make more than the players on the Korn Ferry Tour because the players aren’t making any money every single week but they’re having to pay them (caddies) a flat rate.”

Bryson DeChambeau hired Brian Ziegler, a swing instructor, as his new caddie after firing his old caddie Tim Tucker in the July of 2021. With DeChambeau reportedly signing a deal worth more than $100 million with the LIV Golf, things are only looking affluent for his caddie.
