What started the dispute between the two golfers?
It all started after Jon Rahm’s reaction to the announcement of the mandatory 20 events went viral on social media. The confused response of one of the top golfers on the planet left fans wondering about the transparency between the game’s elite.
Rahm’s reaction to the minimum of 20 PGA Tour events is telling.
Reporter: “Do you know something we don’t”.
Rahm: “pfft, me, no, you’re asking the wrong guy, if you wanna know about that stuff you know who are the 2 players you have to ask”. pic.twitter.com/72luV1C8PB

Among those who reacted to it was LIV golfer, Lee Westwood. The former World No.1 cashed in on Rahm’s uncertainty and questioned the organizing tours on their decision.

He also raised the question of how a top player like Rahm wasn’t at the center of these decisions after the unofficial meeting ahead of the recently concluded BMW Championship in Delaware, of which Jon Rahm was a part.
It’s worrying that 1 of Europes best players looks concerned as to how he’s going to fit in his quota of tournaments to enable him to be a member of both DPWT & PGA tour. I’m sure this subject was covered at the meeting in Delaware last week. 😉

The Lee Westwood and Eddie Pepperell banter
Westwood continued posting an array of tweets on the same issue, which prompted DP Tour golfer, Eddie Pepperell to step in.
I nearly missed this tweet Ed. Are you saying I’m not allowed to express my opinion on Twitter? I thought that was what social media was made for?

In the world of the internet and social media, Pepperell is a gem. Despite not securing any major titles in his brief golf career so far, he has found his calling with his wit and humor on social media, which has resulted in rising popularity among golf circles.

The dispute started when Westwood claimed that the 20 ‘compulsory’ events decision must have been covered in the “strategic alliance” meeting in Delaware a fortnight ago. On this, Pepperell asked for secrecy since the details of the meeting have been uncorroborated so far.
Replying to Eddie’s tweet, Westwood questions whether he’s not allowed to express his opinion on Twitter, to which the latter agrees on the perspective but would have rather wished him to witness the whole drama from a distance.

There were wordy discussions on what was said and done, but one thing was unanimously agreed upon between the two – that DP Tour was nowhere near the PGA and other big Tours, and needed some rectifying in the near future.
