The PGA Tour moved to the bordering nation for a classic showdown at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club. The RBC Canadian Open started with 156 players field taking on the challenge. However, now only 69 remain in the field and only one will be the winner on June 3, 2024. How much will he take home from Hamilton?

Notably, the PGA Tour increased the RBC Canadian Open’s prize purse by $400,000 from last year. In 2023, Nick Taylor bagged $1.62 million from the $9 million prize money. But this year, the winner will get $1.692 million from the expanded purse of $9.4 million.

Moreover, the winner will also receive 500 FedExCup points and 43.79569 Official World Golf Rankings points. Comparatively, the prize purse offered for the 69-man field at the RBC Canadian Open is nearly $7 million more than what has been given at the European Open on the DP World Tour (The prize money is $2.5 million).

Last year, the RBC Canadian Open was a blast for golf fans, especially those Canadian natives. After 69 years, a Canadian pro, Nick Taylor, won the National Open on the PGA Tour. It was indeed an incredible feat. This year, another hometown favorite is eyeing the silverware but Robert MacIntyre might stand in his way.

Canada vs. Scotland: Who will win the RBC Canadian Open?

It was a first for Robert MacIntyre, as he took the 54-hole lead at the RBC Canadian Open. The Oban native has honed his skills and, with his father on the bag, attempted to be the best golfer at the Hamilton G&CC. After the third day, MacIntyre was 14 under 196 and in contention for the first time in his PGA Tour career.

Trailing behind with 4 strokes is the crowd’s favorite, Mackenzie Hughes. The pro has tied for second after three rounds and carded 10 under 200. Despite the four-stroke gap, Hughes was hopeful to beta out MacIntyre on Sunday, though it would be difficult. He shared his Sunday plans and said, “My game plan won’t change, I’ll just try and get as many looks as I can, get the putter hot, get the crowd going early, and see if I can make a charge.”

On the other hand, Hughes’s biggest competitor at the Canadian Open, Bob, was also optimistic that he would take over the crowd’s support. MacIntyre understood that the Canadian fans would cheer Hughes for the victory. But he expressed that he will “try and play my best and give the crowd something to hopefully cheer about good shots and see where we end up.”

Who will come out on top? Will it be Robert MacIntyre’s maiden PGA Tour victory or will the crowd get back-to-back Canadian winner at the RBC Canadian Open?
