Allisen Corpuz was T16th in 2021 as she came in the Top 20 to get the LPGA Tour card for the next season. In her career of 2 years, Corpuz has made cuts many times and became runner-up at different events, however, she has won only once at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open. With her first major victory, Corpuz claimed the No.8th rank in the world.
However, the journey from an amateur golfer on the Q-School to the 8th in the world was not easy. Coming on the Real Pod With Victoria Garrick, Corpuz shared her struggles and explained the stressful process of making it through the Q-School. The 1x major winner described the three stages a player has to go through.
The first stage had rookie golfers while the second and third stages comprised exempted golfers who “were on Tour the year before or lost their status.” Moreover, she explained just how many people advance to each stage and only the top 20 get the cards. Corpuz said, “The top 20, you get full status on the LPGA. Up to 45 and ties gets conditional (status).”
Furthermore, depending on the finished rank, the golfer may or may not get the Epson Tour card. Only after going through the laborious stages, the golfers make it to the LPGA Tour. Corpuz went through the same procedure as she confessed, “I remember going through stage one and just being like, okay, like, this is the stage you need to make it out of or else you don’t have anything for next year. So that was that was pretty stressful.” Every year the LPGA Tour welcomes 20 players from the Epson Tour. This year was no different from others.
