The final round feels were intense for Nelly Korda and those who were watching her. There was a slight chance that the 25-year-old might have lost the victory to Lydia Ko. The fiery last-hole playoff was jittery for the youngest Korda, but her support system and cheering partner were equally tensed inside the ropes.
It was a rather nerve-wracking morning in the Korda household, as the nail-biting finish had Jessica Korda on the edge of her seat. With a sensational victory. The 1x major champion not only put her elder sister’s stress to rest but also helped her soon-to-be nephew or niece out as well.

The oldest of Korda’s sisters is soon-to-be a mother, and she has been off the course for quite some time now. Jessica Korda, though not playing, was there to support her little sister. The Korda siblings share a lovely dynamic, which makes the oldest Korda experience some intense emotions when watching her siblings play.
The final round was tied between Korda and Lydia Ko, pushing for the sudden death playoffs. The first playoffs were tied again, and the nerves were ticking for the six-time LPGA Tour winner. However, the youngest of the two did win in the second playoff and claim the title. As she made her exit from the course, Jessica Korda notified her that she was on the verge of going into labor because of stress.
At the post-win presser, the nine-time LPGA Tour winner was asked what her older sister was telling her. “I thought you were going to send me into labor,” Korda said, laughing. J. Korda even posted an Instagram story saying, “I really thought this may put me in labor today.” But younger Korda was thankful that the “baby is still in belly,” and assured the crowd that “we’re good.”

The second-hole playoff was indeed stressful, as it could have been tied once again and a third playoff would have started if Ko’s ball had not betrayed her. But the victory was written for Korda as she rose again from an ordinary 2023 season. It made it more special that it was in the town where she was born.

However, playing in Bradenton with the support of her people made it an “incredible” event. Korda was not expecting so many people to turn up on any given day but the crowd was there to cheer at the event for her and many others. She said that the win would not have been possible “without all their positive energy.” The crowd’s cheer had made it special, so much so that Korda extended a request to the LPGA Tour commissioner to bring back the event every year. The next stop for Junior Korda will be at the Honda LPGA Thailand in February.
