One week, two different events in two countries—this weekend, the PGA Tour will be in Florida and Puerto Rico as well. While the top 69 golfers of the Tour play at the Bay Hill Golf Club, many, or precisely, 132 players, have been playing at the Grand Reserve Golf Club at the Puerto Rico Open.
Comparatively, the prize purse of the Puerto Rico Open will be significantly lower than the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but it will give the rising talents of the PGA Tour a chance at the winning perks and to prove their capabilities.

The prize purse for the Puerto Rico Open will be $4 million from the overall prize money of nearly $400 million. The winner of the Puerto Rico Open will get the traditional 18% cut from the prize purse, which will be $720,000. Moreover, the victory will receive 300 FedExCup Cup Standing points that will decide who will get the PGA Tour membership next year and qualify for the season-ending TOUR Championship.
With the prize purse, there is always a two-year exemption on the Tour but unlike the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the winner will not get an invitation to the 2024 Masters. Additionally, the Puerto Rico Open will give away 20.36499 OWGR points for the world ranking system. The prize purse for the event has increased since last year.
In 2023, the winner of the Puerto Rico Open, Nico Echavarria, received $680,000 from the $3.8 million pool, but there has been a $200,000 increase. While the winner’s cut is at 18%, the runner will get 10.9%, which is $436,000. The full breakdown is below:
