Being one of the best in one’s field does earn an athlete many admirers. Interestingly, that is exactly what has happened in Nelly Korda’s and Scottie Scheffler’s cases, as they time and again continue to prove why they are ranked No. 1 on the world rankings. Meanwhile, surprisingly, one such fan, none other than Paige Spiranac, couldn’t help but come forward with a suggestion involving both the golfers.

The diva shared a tweet on her X handle just hours ago praising both golfers. Meanwhile, as she did so, the 30-year-old also went ahead to mention how “cool” it was to watch both the professionals excelling in their games while, surprisingly, pitting them against each other!

“5 straight wins for Nelly Korda! Pretty cool to see Nelly and Scottie dominating,” complimented Spiranac just moments after the 25-year-old female pro won her second major championship. What’s more, she even brought in Scheffler owing to his recent display of golf, a victory at the Masters, and his lead at the RBC Heritage.

That’s not all. Adding on, the golf queen also proposed another wild suggestion; “Now we need to see them play a match against each other.” Fascinatingly, this bid to pit Nelly Korda and Scheffler against each other did not go unheard in the community, as many came forward to express their side as well.

Some people agreed with the proposal as they went ahead to react, “That would be awesome to watch! Go Nelly!” and “Nelly is the best,” all the while expressing their support for the 2024 Chevron Championship winner. Alternatively, others didn’t agree with the same as they dished out comments such as “That would be interesting, but I’d take Scottie,” and “Scottie would crush her. Easily,” while supporting the PGA Tour Pro. All in all, the fans seemed to be happy with the proposal.

Well, such a reaction makes perfect sense after witnessing the accolades that the two have managed to garner over the past few weeks. While Scheffler is on his way to clinch his fourth win in five events, Nelly Korda has already managed to win 5 of her six starts in 2024.

Witnessing a ‘dominating’ Korda and Scheffler on the greens

The LPGA Tour pro managed to clinch her fifth straight win in a row, joining the likes of Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam, to become the third golfer to do so. Moreover, Nelly Korda was able to clinch her second major title, cementing her place on the Rolex Rankings as No. 1 by registering figures of 13 under 275 and raking in a cut of $1.2 million out of the total $7.9 million prize purse.

Meanwhile, Scheffler, on the other hand, is currently enjoying a dominating lead on the scoreboard at the ongoing PGA Tour event at Harbor Town Golf Links. Although the play has been suspended for the day and is set to resume at 8:00 AM on Monday, his win is anything but expected owing to his lead of 5 strokes with 3 holes remaining, while those at T2 are much behind him.
