Only a few days ago, Al-Rumayyan was left in shock. The reason? It was because of the PGA Tour’s “inadequate and disrespectful” proposal for the merger as suggested by the Golf Digest. This occurred after the Governor of PIF had a meeting with the leaders of the Tour and Donald Trump at the White House. It was believed that the PIF-PGA Tour merger had hit another roadblock after the years of hard work that were put into it. But Jay Monahan has stated that their dynamic with the LIV Golf’s investors is still great.

At least that’s what the PGA Tour Commissioner believes as per his latest statement about the merger. NUCLR Golf shared Monahan’s exact statement on X about the status of the unification conversation. Many were made to believe that things were not going well between both parties after the PIF Governor’s statement. Even Tiger Woods took the heat for it from the fans as they believed the GOAT influenced the direction of the discussion, which didn’t please Al-Rumayyan. But that is not the case at all.

As the tweet mentions, 🚨👀⛳️ #NEW: PGA TOUR commissioner Jay Monahan provides an update on negotiations: “The talks are real and they are substantial. They have been significantly bolstered by President Trump…. He wants to see the game re-unified, we want to see the game re-unified.” Goes on to say: “We believe there’s ways to integrate parts of LIV Golf into the PGA TOUR”.” If Jay Monahan is to be believed, then things have moved forward in the conversation.

But that’s the thing about Monahan. He hasn’t won the trust of the fans yet. And the community was even more triggered by him stating that they are planning to “integrate parts of LIV Golf into the PGA TOUR”. Let’s see what they had to say about it.

Fans ridicule Jay Monahan for trying to deface the PGA Tour’s legacy

Yes, the PGA Tour’s Commissioner and his team are planning to integrate LIV Golf into the Tour. And Jay Monahan’s statement really triggered some of the fans. Some responded with hatred, but there were others who chose the sarcastic path. As one fan said, “Ways to integrate parts of Liv golf…haha what are they going to do start pumping in techno music? 🤣🤣”. We’re guessing they won’t be laughing if that actually happens judging by Jay Monahan’s plans.

Another chose the straightforward path of criticizing the PGA Tour Commissioner. They simply stated, “Monahan is delusional!” They might be thinking that the PGA Tour fans would never accept a LIV Golf-style format in the PGA Tour. Frankly, considering how the Tour’s loyalist reacted to the 54-hole team game format, we won’t be surprised if they don’t approve of it. Hence, another fan’s “The guy seems utterly incompetent, in fact he’s proved he is, may I add delusional too??” also made a lot of sense.

In fact, there are a few who believe that Jay Monahan doesn’t deserve to hold the position he has at the PGA Tour. They said, “What a waste! Should have been fired immediately 2+ years ago”. This is not the first time the fans have asked for Monahan’s head. Back in October 2024, a row with Greg Norman had also raised fans’ demands for Monahan to be fired.
