Just when you thought nothing was disrupting the Presidents Cup ongoing in Montreal, things took a turn for the worse. Round three of the Presidents Cup started with Scottie Scheffler & Collin Morikawa playing against Taylor Pendrith and Adam Scott for the morning fourballs, but only to be cut short. After round two, the game was tied at 5-5, and the fans expected round three to be an enthralling one, as to who would take the lead in the morning fourballs.
However, only after playing the first hole and being tied by the USA and International Team, play was suspended at 7:23 a.m. ET. Even the Tony Finau/Xander Schauffele versus International Team’s Corey Conners/Mackenzie Hughes had begun and the players were given the choice of at least completing the first hole, but they chose against it. The morning was supposed to a pretty sunny with only a few clouds.
But the fog started growing and disrupting the golfers’ sight. Fortunately, there was no rain pouring down at the Royal Montreal Golf Club as the weather report but because of the extreme fog, the PGA Tour momentarily suspended the play and the golfers moved back to the locker room.

The weather reports of the round three forecast that after an uneventful morning, which wasn’t, the day was predicted to pass without any hindrance except it being a little cloudy for the evening foursomes session. The temperature would be high at 70F with wind blowing from the northeast between 6 and 12 mph. Will the session resume anytime soon? There are chances.
When will the four-ball session start again?
There have been times in the 2024 season when many of the PGA Tour events had to be canceled. Remember, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was cut short with only 54 holes in inclement weather, and Wyndham Clark was announced the winner as he was leading after the third round. Even at the Cognizant Classic, the heavy downpour pushed the event to finish on Monday, with Austin Eckroat emerging victorious.

Will a similar thing happen and the round 3 of the Presidents Cup be pushed on to Sunday? Although there was a risk, it would not be delayed. The PGA Tour posted an update that Scheffler-Morikawa vs. Pendrith-Scott and Schauffele-Finau vs. Conner-Hughes will hopefully resume at 9:00 a.m. ET.
With the delay, the timings of the other two fourball matches: Keegan Bradley and Wyndham Clark against Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim have been changed to 9:12 a.m., whereas the match between Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns against Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im has been pushed to 9:30 a.m. With the delayed things, the evening foursomes matches will start late as well, and hopefully there will be no unexpected weather delay to push the matches to Sunday and destroy the fun event.
