Should Jon Rahm take a break from golf to support his wife during this tough time?

The road to becoming a parent is never an easy one; it doesn’t matter if one is becoming a parent for the first time or third time; the journey is always full of bumps. Ask Jon Rahm and his wife, Kelley Cahill! The couple has two kids of their own, Kepa, 3, and Eneko, 2, but they are struggling with some issues in their third pregnancy, which they announced in March 2024.

Recently, while talking about many things at the LIV Golf Chicago press conference, the golfer shared a concerning update. When asked about his wife’s health, Jon Rahm shared a positive update that was later followed by their harsh experience. “She’s doing really good. There was a dark moment there with the pregnancy,”  said the golfer, stating that Cahill is doing really well after a challenging period during her pregnancy.

Rahm further elaborated on the issues they were facing. The couple had a tough time for two months because of the pregnancy, but now things are getting better. And with the baby’s arrival being near, this is a big relief. Especially for Rahm, as he can focus on golf again while still being there for his wife. “When I say moment, it was every bit of two months, and I feel like we’re coming out of that right now. We’re towards the end,”  the golfer continued.

The golfer explained that because of some problems with the pregnancy, the due date of the baby is uncertain but doctors are sure that they won’t let it go past 38 weeks. But now that Cahill is doing better, they’re unsure of the deadline. If the baby doesn’t come early, they might help induce after Rahm plays in the LIV Golf Team Championship that is scheduled for September 20-22 in Dallas.

Rahm has everything planned out if the road takes them that way. “It could be a case where I go home, deliver the baby, and then fly Tuesday or Wednesday to Madrid,”  said the golfer. Rahm knew that with his wife’s due date, his DP World Tour dreams would be affected.

Jon Rahm said he isn’t worrying about golf past September or October

Jon Rahm is prioritizing his family’s needs due to his wife’s complicated pregnancy. The golfer was in discussions with the DP World Tour to resolve his outstanding fines and eligibility in July as well, and amid that, he was hoping to play in the Spanish Open, but his schedule was uncertain due to his family’s situation at that time. “At this point, I’m so still waiting on what might happen with my wife and daughter that I don’t know if I’ll be able to play or not,”  the golfer said in July, per Golf Magic. However, the golfer is looking forward to the Spanish Open, scheduled from September 26-29.

But as we all know, Rahm has two kids, Kepa and Eneko, who need to be taken care of during this period. Acknowledging this, the golfer had said in July that he was not looking for golf after September and October.“I’m not going to lie, anything past September or October right now, with the situation I have with my wife and daughter, I’m really not thinking about it, to be honest,” Rahm said.

Now that Cahill is feeling better, the golfer is focused on supporting his wife and family, and with LIV Golf Chicago on his calendar, he is looking forward to playing some golf as well.
