Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf has celebrated many success stories in spite of the controversy surrounding it. Instituting its journey in 2021, the league successfully bagged some of the world-renowned golfers. Notably, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, and Cameron Smith fall under the category of some of the big names who signed the contract.

These renowned golfers, however, couldn’t prevent the criticism from striking LIV Golf. Since its entry into the International arena, the league has faced its fair share of disapproval. But, despite the air of negative notions surrounding the professional tour, CEO Greg Norman holds a positive hope for future endeavors. He is quite optimistic about the leagues’ popularity. The reason for this might lie in the recent LIV success in Singapore, and Adelaide. In fact, not long ago, he disclosed the plans Saudi League has for its future venues.

The tweet happened to highlight Norman’s statement which implied a fruitful future for LIV Golf till the year 2028. According to this, the CEO seemed confident of LIV’s popularity and commented, “We are looking to 2025-26,’26-’27, and ’27-’28 now. So the popularity of this has spoken for itself.” In addition to this LIV Golf aimed to host an event in countries like Ireland. Norman referred to it as a ‘passionate destination‘.

When Ireland is mentioned in the golf world, amazing courses and exciting tournaments come to a viewers’ mind. Hence, it is not surprising to see the management have ambitions to expand their venues to this European country. The nation attracts professionals and fans with its charismatic teeing fields. After all, it is the home to many spectacular golf players like Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke.

The recent setback for LIV golfers doesn’t deter Norman

The LIV golfers, convincingly, lost the legal battle against DP World Tour. As the result of this loss, Sports Resolution’s independent body accepted the fine to be imposed on these golfers. The amount to be paid by the defectors is $126,000. The penalty is the product of the breach of ethical codes by LIV golfers when they switched to Saudi League after its establishment in 2021.

Not only this, but the professional league has had another set back in terms of audience count. The viewership has always been a problem for LIV Golf but that has not deterred them from their pursuit. The LIV slogan ‘Golf but louder’ was seen in action this year at Singapore and Adelaide. LIV Golf Singapore welcomed the Asian audiences’ interest in the game. In addition to this, the huge crowd and media interest that LIV Golf Adelaide received in Australia was another feather in their cap.
