Kim, who recently secured a noteworthy T2 position in the Open Championship, was invited as a guest on the esteemed podcast. In his conversation with the host, he revealed the formidable struggle he encountered due to an ankle injury while participating in the last major.

Smylie Kaufman shared the Instagram video from the podcast with the caption, “One of my favorite conversations of the show so far with @joohyungkim0621 ! Had to ask Tom how his crazy ankle injury happened at this year’s @theopen!” In the video, fans can see the South Korean professional golfer revealing the instance from the second day of the competition when his foot got caught. He was in golf shoes and the top part of the shoe was slippery. “And I unfortunately roll it and it pops on me,” said the golfer.

Furthermore, he realized that he needed to score at least 1-under par or better with his injured leg in order to make it to the next round. At the moment, he felt that with two legs, he scored two over, whereas now with one leg, he has to make one-under par. When asked by the host about the odds, he replied that for the first few holes, he hit it. He continued saying, “Then I Bogey 11 and I par out and finish three under.” He concluded by saying, “That is probably one of the best rounds I’ve played all year.”

Without a doubt, the young golfer showcased his unwavering dedication and passion for the sport by remarkably playing for four consecutive days, despite suffering from a grade 1 tear.

In the second round, Kim showcased his skill by shooting an impressive 68, bringing his total score to even-par 142 after completing 36 holes. In the final round, he ambitiously aimed for a remarkable 4-under score of 67, which propelled him into second place, alongside Sepp Straka, Jason Day, and Jon Rahm.
