According to a report in the Telegraph, all the players who have joined the Saudi-backed golf league will not be allowed to compete in the Scottish Open. The event will take place a week before the 150th Open at St. Andrews. Moreover, the warmup event before the Open Championship will occur at the Renaissance Club, Scotland. It will commence on July 7, and the final round will take place on July 10. Not to forget, the event is a co-sanctioned tournament by the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.

The report comes right after the R&A allowed the LIV players to compete in the Open Championship at the home of golf in St. Andrews. If the report by the Telegraph holds, it means that players like Brooks Kopeka, Lee Westwood, and Bryson DeChambeau will not be able to compete at the co-sanctioned event.
At the same time, it will be the first drastic step that DP World Tour will take against LIV players, which means more tough decisions from both the Tour can be expected to follow. Not to forget, the PGA Tour, while the first LIV Golf event was taking place, suspended all their players competing at the event.
The golf world reacts to shocking LIV Series news
As soon as the news about the report broke out, the golf Twitter became a frenzy. Golf fans from all parts of the globe started to react to the shocking report of LIV players not being allowed to compete at the Scottish Open in the Renaissance Club a week before the Open Championship.
Most of the fans had mixed reactions to both the Tour’s bold decisions. Some of them thought that it would be a wrong decision. At the same time, other fans felt it will be the right thing to do if the report turns out to be accurate. Furthermore, the DP World Tour just a couple of hours back has announced that all the LIV players who competed at the Centurion Club will be fined £100,000. They will also be suspended from playing in the Scottish Open, Barbasol Championship, and Barracuda Championship. As a result, the reports by the Telegraph are true and this will be a setback for all the LIV players.
Poor decision…appears the DP World Tour caved. The field won't be nearly as strong as a result.

Need to change it to the Scottish invitational now right???? Not open anymore.

Because it doesn’t, and can’t, work like that. If the PGA Tour can’t guarantee quality fields, sponsors bail. Literally everything is built upon the strength of the Tour membership.

That's a shame, especially if you want the top players to be there.

We the fans will boycott the Scottish Open. Who goes back to back anyway? #boycott
