Rickie Fowler lived some crazy days before turning pro. From becoming an Uber driver to taking a stranger out to McDonald’s to now having fun with jet skies, the recent interview with Fowler is a mine of his gem stories from former years.

The 35-year-old golfer sat for a tête-à-tête with his friend Morgan Hoffman and co-host Jeg Coughlin III. It revealed some of the hidden tales from Fowler’s college and rookie days. The Jupiter resident enjoyed his life to the fullest when he first moved to Florida, with the surprising presence of LIV Golf Pro as his roommate.

Rickie Fowler reminisces about his ‘jet ski’ days

After graduating from Oklahoma State University, Rickie Fowler entered Q-school and met Cameron Tringale. Both were at school in 2009. “Both from California; we’re from same agency,” Fowler recalled. As Fowler was living in Nevada and had a spare room, he invited Tringale to live with him. The golfers lived for a year and then Fowler moved to Jupiter.

There the PGAT pro got a 4-room house and asked Tringale, “If you want maybe check out Florida, and if you want you got a room.” The 4 Aces GC member “liked it lived enough so he moved in” with Fowler for the next six to seven years. During that time, the house had become a “bachelor pad” since other golfers such as Hoffman and Scott Langley also moved in for some time.

The house was near the shore, and Fowler and the guys utilized all the fun by the beach. The 6x PGA Tour winner described on the I Can Fly podcast the scenes when they would take out the jet skies and paddles to board on the water. He recalled and said, “We had plenty of fun on the jet skies.” 

Although Tringale was a year older than Fowler, the two shared a special bond through golf. Fowler remembered that initially, he did not “knew Cam that well”, but eventually, the two spent much time together. On the recent podcast, Fowler re-lived many of his old memories. One such was his high school accident, which fractured his foot.

Fowler’s unfortunate motocross accident

In high school, Fowler was interested in golf as well as motocross. However, his relationship with motocross ended when he got involved in a brutal accident. It was on a small track in the California desert and he was driving at a speed of 110 mph.

While driving the bike, Fowler noticed another bike with a child on it. To save them from an accident, he fell off and broke his foot in three spots and blew up his left knee. The accident was devastating, and it took two months for him to heal.

Fowler did not want to risk his golfing career for motocross, hence he left it altogether. The sacrifice of Fowler at that time did benefit him as he is climbing through success now and is one of the best golfers of the decade.
