Age is just a number. We often hear many people saying this but once in a while, we come across people who actually live this as well. Such is the case of a golf lover who has lived more than a century, but does not let old age stop him from playing his favorite sport.
For an intricate part of this person’s life, golf has been the medium of keeping him entertained and providing him with the required zeal in his golden years. Let’s find out more about him.
The 103-year-old man who plays all 18 holes in golf

Bristol resident Arthur Medeiros, is 103 years old and continues to play his favorite sport, golf to this day. Every week he gets together with friends and visits the golf courses three to four times. It was only yesterday that he played at the 18 holes at the Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He kept his approach in life as similar to golf and says that his family is his biggest accomplishment.
Speaking about his love for the game and still having the opportunity to play he said, “I’m happy if I shoot 87, 88. I’m happy,” Medeiros said. “But hey, just being out here is great. You have your good days, you have your bad days but today was a good day.”
Arthur is a war survivor. He is also an army veteran who in his prime years served in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. For his services, he has earned three Purple Hearts, as well as a Silver Star and a Bronze Star. During his early years, he worked as a swing band leader. But with time he has learned that true happiness lies in doing what you love.

A positive perspective allows war veteran to continue in life and on course
The first time Arthur was on a golf course was almost a century ago in 1931 when he was just 11 years old. Over the years his love for the sport has remained the same and he still enjoys playing all 18 holes without any excuse. Arthur shared the positive perspective he had on his life which allows him to enjoy every day. He says, “I’m thankful every day because little things don’t bother me, “What comes along I take one day at a time. It doesn’t do any good to complain.” Maybe that’s the secret to his long and content life.
He treats life with ease and fun and is always ready for new things. He said, “I’m always on the go, and I feel like I’m about 65,” At 103 Arthur is defying the odds and continues to be an inspiration for everyone that it is never too late to enjoy doing what you love.
