We are back in conversations about Brooks Koepka. In recent news, the 34-year-old golfer is actively fighting rumors about his potential departure from LIV Golf after his contract expires in 2026. He has made some comments regarding the situation, but honestly, he hasn’t done much to quell the rumors. His vague remark, “I don’t know where I’m going, so I don’t know how everybody else does,” has only added fuel to the fire. Consequently, two people have come to his defense.

Firstly, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil, who is currently in Singapore, stated that Koepka has “a couple more years left on his contract. The next person to defend the golfer is Jerry Foltz, who is also in Singapore and discussed Koepka being in the news for “some comments.

He mentioned Fred Couples’s message to the media about being in constant talks with the LIV golfer and Koepka wanting to return to the Tour. “Brooks, as always, has played his cards close to his chest. That’s one of the things we know and love about him. If he doesn’t know where he’s going, then how are we supposed to know? I will tell you what. I do know.”

Interestingly, Brooks Koepka serves as both the captain and the general manager of his team, Smash GC. “The rest of the team has delegated their general manager duties to independent sources, which makes their lives a lot easier. Brooks doesn’t care for that.” Why does Foltz believe that the golfer takes on this role? “He wants to be the man understanding it all, in charge of everything, and making the decisions that affect his team.

According to Foltz, Koepka is fully involved in building his team’s equity. However, the golfer is also facing rumors because he is the only LIV golfer not wearing his team’s branded gear from Redvanly. Foltz has an explanation for that as well. It relates to his previous deal as a Swoosh ambassador. Given his deep understanding of how the league works, Foltz is confident that Koepka won’t leave the league anytime soon. So, what’s going on with Brooks Koepka? Has there been a recent connection between the Tour and him? Well, in a way, yes.

Brooks Koepka maintains distance from the Tour despite the rumors

After his little comment made a week ago, Koepka hasn’t directly responded to any of the rumors. However, his latest appearance and snarky observation have brought him back into the conversation. Currently competing in the LIV Golf event in Singapore, the golfer tied for T8 with Irish golfer Paul Casey. However, it was his comment after a poor shot on the 8th hole during the second round that confirmed he is taking a dig at the Tour.

After a strong start on Friday, where Koepka shot a 67 in the first round, his performance faltered in the second round, where he shot a 69. He dropped two shots while making three birdies, resulting in an underwhelming performance for the star golfer. Notably, during the second round on the 8th hole, Koepka made a thinly veiled jab at the PGA Tour after hitting his shot wide-right of the green on the par-three hole.

Frustrated, the golfer muttered, “Oh, you should go back to the Korn Ferry.” Then, he realized it wasn’t so bad, and he added, “I wouldn’t go there just yet.” Koepka currently ranks 22nd out of the 55 players in the LIV Golf individual standings. His best finish came in Adelaide, where he tied for T7. The World No. 181 won his third PGA Championship in 2023. Undoubtedly, he is gearing up for a better performance this year. So, where is his focus right now?

In Brooks Koepka’s words, he just wants to focus on playing better. He added, “How do I play better in the majors, how does this team win, then we’ll figure out next year and how to play better again.” Undoubtedly, despite the rumors weighing heavily on him, the golfer will seek a better finish than in Adelaide. His next best finish, aside from that, came in early February in Riyadh, where he placed T33. With so much pressure surrounding him, what do you think will happen in 2026?
