On January 7, 2025, disaster struck Los Angeles as the Palisades and Eaton fires erupted, quickly ravaging vast stretches of land. By January 23, firefighters had made significant progress, managing to contain 70% of the Palisades fire and 95% of the Eaton fire, but not before the flames had already consumed more than 23,000 and 14,000 acres of land, respectively. The destruction was heartbreaking. But just when it seemed like relief might be on the horizon, another wave of fires took hold. The Hughes fire, Sepulveda fire, and Clay fire broke out between January 21 and 23, adding even more devastation to an already overwhelmed city.

The toll has been tragic, with preliminary estimates reporting 28 lives lost and more than 15,000 structures destroyed. The human cost of these fires is unimaginable, leaving families displaced and the community reeling from the devastation. The battle to protect the land and the lives of those caught in the flames continues, but the road to recovery will be long and hard. There have been several funds coming in for the place, and one of them was a whopping $59 million from FEMA. However, the resources were allocated to luxury hotels in New York to house illegal immigrants instead of the fiction. This angered Elon Musk, and he shared that it violated the law.

“The  @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants. Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order. That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high-end hotels for illegals! A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds,” he wrote on X. Phil Mickelson agrees. He replied to the post, and said, “Thank you for pointing this out to Elon. How about we take care of Americans first? Maybe we can start by helping our Veterans or fellow Americans in need before we misallocate funds from their intended purpose.” It’s a bold stance, indeed. However, after the agreement, as it turns out, Lefty also has a request to Elon Musk.

A few hours later, Lefty took to his official X account and shared a post. “Dear Elon, please do California next 🙏,” he wrote. This was a playful comment made to suggest that Elon Musk should also be involved in taking some action to address the issues in California. Especially in terms of how it is being managed. Let’s not forget, after all, he is from San Diego and also plays from Rancho Santa Fe, both of which are in California. So his demand for the well-being of the state is pretty natural.

The request came after Mickelson had missed the season inaugural, because of an injury. The Riyadh event marked LIV’s debut with its FOX deal but faced a harsh disappointment. The first round had just 12,000 viewers tuning in. While Phil Mickelson made a light-hearted request to want to do better for his home ground, the comment seemed to have backfired against him.

Golf Community calls Phil Mickelson out for LIV Golf deal

Phil Mickelson was at the heart of the storm when LIV Golf first emerged in 2022, and his role in the whole thing was nothing short of controversial. The six-time Major champion didn’t hold back in his criticism of the PGA Tour, blasting its “obnoxious greed” during an interview with Golf Digest in Saudi Arabia. Around that time, more explosive remarks surfaced, with Mickelson making critical comments about the Saudis in a conversation with writer Alan Shipnuck.

It seemed like Mickelson was burning bridges left and right, and he decided to step away from the game for a few months. But when he returned, he came back with a bang, signing with LIV Golf as one of the circuit’s biggest early stars. It was clear that the Saudis had forgiven him, and the move was a game-changer.

While details are still a bit murky, reports suggest Mickelson’s signing fee was nothing short of jaw-dropping, rumored to be a staggering $200 million. Forbes even reported that he likely received half of that upfront, cementing his place as one of the biggest names to leap LIV. Taking to this, one of them wrote, “Bro had no issues taking money from the Saudis.” While another, mocking him, curiously commented, “Don’t you mean Riyadh?”

Thursday marked FOX’s first-ever broadcast of a LIV event, and to make things easier for U.S. viewers, the start time in Saudi Arabia was adjusted. Despite the anticipation, however, the FOX Sports broadcast didn’t exactly make the splash that LIV had hoped for in the U.S. This makes it evident, that LIV Golf still needs help. So fans urge Mickelson to get the league fixed first. One of them wrote, What if he did LIV”, while another simply commented, “He’s throwing stones in a glass house.”

However, not everyone was against him. Some of them even strongly supported Lefty on his stance. One of them, agreeing to his request, wrote, “Yes, please.”
