Phil Mickelson is without a doubt one of the most talented golfers of all time. His excellent form and his playfulness make him different from others. He has had many victories under his name and he has seen some downfall in his career too. Today, we’ll see how Phil came back from a bad time in his life.

Phil almost lost everything, from his family to his career in 2009, after the shocking news. But then, a friend’s words saved him and brought him back to life.
Phil Mickelson was lost
In may 2009, it shocked Mickelson to know that his wife was suffering from breast cancer. Phil was still absorbing the news and trying to cope,when just less than two months later, news of his mother getting diagnosed with breast cancer hit him like a bullet.

His entire world came crumbling down. This news affected his game of golf. He could not concentrate and could not make a cut to the championships. But in 2011, his wife Amy gave him the longest on-air hug in the history of the PGA Tour, after he won his third master. Phil says that this victory came as a start to better times.

The words of wisdom that Mickelson received
After a long period of adversity, Phil could pull back from his pain and get back in the field. After 11 months of emotional highs and lows, Mickelson finally landed a victory that wasn’t just an important milestone in his golfing career, but also one of the most important victories of his life. The only reason he could ace was the words from a good friend.

He said, “A good friend of ours said the hardest thing to accept is that your old life is in the past and there’s a new normal. When we looked at it that way, it was like a little bit of the pressure was off because it would have been almost impossible to get it back the way it was before.”

After letting some pressure off of him, it was April 11 at Georgia’s Augusta National, where he won his third Masters in 2011. He was finally back in the game and he finally celebrated his victory with his family.
