Has Phil Mickelson's switch to LIV Golf finally given him the edge over Tiger Woods?

Have you ever heard of the saying ‘Money Talks’? Because in Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson’s case, it sure does! Both of them are not only recognized as the top golfers worldwide but also counted among the wealthiest athletes globally. Curious who is ahead of the other in the money game in 2024? Well, get ready because the answer is quite surprising.

The golf legend is having a tough season so far. The reason, you ask? Well, Woods only participated in four tournaments this year- The Genesis Invitational, the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship, and the U.S. Open. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational citing influenza and missed the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.

Think that’s the worst part? Well, think again. Because the 82x PGA Tour winner, finished dead last at T60 in the 2024 Masters and made a decent amount of $44,400. And that’s all the money Tiger Woods has made on the greens in the 2024 season so far.

Everyone’s favorite LIV golfer, Mickelson, has played in over ten LIV tours and three PGA tours. After not performing well in any of the LIV Tours, the golfer’s start in the PGA Tour was also sloppy. Notably, Mickelson missed the cut in the 2024 PGA Championship and the Open. Interestingly, only the Master’s tournament worked out well for Mickelson, as it had for Woods. The six-time major winner used his incredible skills and finished at T43 at the Augusta National, making a whopping $72,000.

Yet, both golfers have different sources of income than just the sport. Golf is undoubtedly a sport that draws in massive income!
