Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson enjoy competing with each other. Both the professionals have played together on numerous occasions and share one of the fiercest professional rivalries in golf. However, in 2018, the six-time major championship winner, Mickelson, acknowledged Woods’ game and spoke about his greatness on the golf course.

The 51-year-old professionals spoke about the time Woods won four straight majors and dominated the golf world. In 2000, Woods won three of the remaining major championship events, and in 2001 he won the Masters at Augusta National. As a result, the 15-time major championship winner achieved the Tiger Slam in golf.

In an interview at the 2018 Players Championship, Mickelson, the 45-time PGA Tour winner, spoke about the former World Number One.

Mickelson voiced Woods’ ultimate dominance over that period. He admitted that the 82-time PGA Tour winner played the most outstanding golf ever.

Mickelson said, “I don’t think anybody today who did not who wasn’t there that witnessed it, and I don’t think anybody before will ever see that level of play again. It was the most remarkable golf in the history of the game. And I think unrepeatable I think it’s it was that good.”

He added, “Going back to I look at 2000 as being kind of the benchmark at the US Open has been the greatest golf I’ve ever, ever witnessed, and I believe ever has been played. And it’s s**ked to have to play against them. It really did. You look at it, and you say, you know, how are you going to, how am I going to beat this?”

Mickelson’s words prove how well the five-time Masters champion played in those years. At the same time, it also depicts that despite the professional rivalry between the two professionals, Phil acknowledges Tiger Woods and praises his greatness without inhibition. The lefty is a true gentleman.

Woods won his fifth Masters title and 15th major championship in 2019. He emphatically won the major championship event with an overall score of 13-under-par. He won with a narrow one-shot advantage after the final round. His win at Augusta National Golf Club was his first major championship triumph in almost 11 years.

Woods carded a final round of two-under-par, 70 to finish on the top of the leaderboard and beat the younger generation of professionals. His final round included three birdies and two bogeys on the opening nine holes, moving out in one-under-par, 35. He again made three birdies and two bogeys on the back nine to make the turn in one-under-par, 35.

Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele, and Brooks Koepka finished as the runner-ups to Woods. They ended the major championship event with an overall score of 12-under-par. As a result, the trio had to settle for a tied second position finish.
