Tucker was part of DeChambeau’s team when he attended practiced at the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic on Wednesday. However, according to reports, the two decided not to work together anymore on the same night.

Notably, DeChambeau won all of his 8 PGA Tour titles and the 2020 US Open with Tucker on his bag.

Parting with a caddie is never easy when the golfer had great success with him on the bag. However, the golf world found funny ways to interpret the situation, especially after Phil Mickelson, the 2021 PGA Championship winner, said something funny.

Phil Mickelson found himself guilty of DeChambeau firing his caddie

Mickelson wrote “it was just an 8 iron” as a comment on the news on Twitter. It was all the golf world needed to understand the meaning behind it.

The 52-year-old golfer referred to the time when he took the 8-iron from DeChambeau’s bag and slightly bent it with his knee during their practice session. Mickelson had shared the prank video on his social media page.

His witty comment on the DeChambeau-Tucker news reached many, and most of them found it hilarious.

Of course, Mickelson’s comment was a joke. And he might have done it as part of the promotion ahead of his and DeChambeau’s ‘The Match’, which was scheduled for the week after Rocket Mortgage Classic.

However, the golf world loved how the golfer made it look like his mistake could have led DeChambeau to fire his caddie.
