‘Brilliant’- Phil Mickelson recalls Brady’s iconic shot on The Match

The host asks Brady what he’s doing as an executive producer and what are the job description and responsibilities that it entails. Brady, however, goes a little off-topic and says, “The best part is that I’m not playing! Phil’s an amazing partner and I’ve not necessarily brought my game over the last couple of matches. And I feel like the best aspect of me being involved in this match is being behind the scenes.”

When the host tells him that that’s not what he wanted to hear, Mickelson says, “First of all, you’re talking about the guy who hit the most memorable shot in the history of the match. Holing out, telling Barkley to shove it, so you’ve got one of the most beautiful moments of the match. And now we’re bringing him behind the scenes!”

He goes on to explain their duties and says that their aim is to create a fun and interesting environment for the viewers. Moreover, he confesses that their aim is to set up the course in a way they can have some ‘potential great shots’.

Referring to the first match with him and Tiger Woods, he said, “It gets pretty intense in the end. We clam up, we don’t talk too much. So, we’ve got to get somebody out there to ask questions and get them talking and get them interacting. Because, that’s what’s fun about it… You get to see a side of them that you don’t normally get to see!”
