Is Phil Mickelson's poker prowess a testament to his mental game, or just another way to intimidate?

Phil Mickelson‘s Tuesday nightmare. But why? The history goes way back, when Bradley was a young player on the tour and Mickelson had already made his mark on the game. But what did the duo do that made Lefty a nightmare? Well, not the literal one, but you get it, right?

After winning the BMW Championship for the second time, Bradley had a rather interesting revelation about his monetary interactions with Mickelson. In a tweet from Fore Play, wherein the 2025 Ryder Cup captain played rapid fire with the host, he answered several questions, one of which revolved around money.

When asked who had taken the most money from him, Bradley didn’t take a second to think and said with a grin, “Probably Phil Mickelson.” Bradley added to it and said it was early in his career. Bradley was then asked if it was Monday or Tuesday. Bradley said it was Tuesday. The interviewer then said humorously, “Tuesdays, when you can lose some money.” But why is Mickelson known as the master of money matches?

Phil Mickelson is infamous for his likings. A memorable instance occurred on Tuesday of the 2013 PLAYERS Championship when Mickelson and Rickie Fowler were 2-up against Bradley and Brendan Steele in a best-ball practice match. As Bradley faced a crucial 10-foot putt, Mickelson used psychological tactics. He said from behind, “Let me tell you. This is the whole match. If you make this putt, then we’re going to be three down, and it’s going to be too much to come back from. You guys are going to be excited, and you’re going to have all the momentum.”

Since then, Bradley has played a lot of Tuesday matches with Mickelson. The idea of these matches is not money-oriented but rather to give golfers the same feel of pressure they feel on Sunday. Lefty, as per Steele, is an evil genius.

The BMW Championship of the 2024 season was quite dramatic, and Keegan Bradley’s victory was one of the most outstanding achievements of the year, with the other two being appointed as the captain for the Bethpage showdown and then vice-captain of this year’s President’s Cup. He has exciting times lined up, but he is grateful for how this past weekend turned out for him.

How did Bradley feel after winning the $20 million event?

This victory was not achieved in a straightforward manner but rather on a long, winding road. Bradley narrowly defeated Adam Scott, who was struggling with bogeys, on the last day of the tournament. Looking at his success, Bradley was surprised and thankful at the same time. “Oh, man, it just shows why you’ve got to grind it out every week because you never know how fast it can switch,” he said to the Ryder Cup website, summarizing his hard-earned victory.

At the BMW Championship, Bradley demonstrated calm and focus. “I played with a real sense of calm all week, which is not the norm for me,” he said after the event. With his recent triumph, Bradley is now focusing on the East Lake tournament and will surely be looking forward to winning it.
