Another LIV Golf team has found a grand sponsor. Over the past few days, many clubs from the Saudi-based league have been attracting attention from mega brands. A couple of weeks ago, Bryson DeChambeau and Crushers GC signed with Reebok as their footwear and apparel sponsor. Bubba Watson and RangeGoats GC announced their partnership with Swannies for their apparel. And now, the Legion XIII GC squad and their captain; Jon Rahm has Callaway supporting them.
Rahm joined The Joe Pomp Show on YouTube to discuss the deal and how the conversation began. During a particular segment, Pompliano asked the Spanish golfer why he and his team have had success attracting big brands. To which, Rahm replied, “It is definitely a team effort. A lot of our relationship with Callaway, I can’t even take credit for”. This suggests that Jon Rahm doesn’t believe he should be acknowledged for bringing in Callaway as a sponsor for his team.
He goes on to explain, “It almost all starts with Phil (Mickelson)”. Rahm goes on to explain that the general manager of Legion XIII; Jeff Koski got in close contact with Callaway through Phil Mickelson. After sharing his dynamic with Mickelson, Rahm stated that when he joined Callaway, “the bridge was already there”. He also suggested that he instantly connected with the brand and its vibe. But he credits Mickelson for making it happen.

Jon Rahm’s association with Callaway
It is worth noting that Rahm already had Callaway as his golf equipment partner for nearly 4 years. He further discussed how Callaway has been extremely supportive of his career path. Even after Rahm joined LIV Golf, Callaway didn’t back down from endorsing him. In fact, the reputed golf equipment brand wanted to take it one step further and sign on with the entire Legion XIII squad.
The Spanish pro shared why it took them a year to make it happen. He said, “It became a matter of time till they were going to be a part of it (Legion XIII sponsors)”. This suggests that Callaway always intended to partner up with Legion XIII and was only looking for the right opportunity to begin the partnership. Rahm added, “For them being such a big brand representing the world of golf. Having that hesitance of not knowing, ‘once you come to LIV, you get a clear idea of the future'”.
