The differences and rivalry between the leagues are mellowing down. Is this a sign that the merger is getting closer? Well, with recent advancements, there are evident signs of movement towards it. Even LIV Golf has been on a strong start in the 2025 schedule with TV broadcaster deals with Fox Sports and ITV. Not only this, but the USGA has offered an exemption, and The Open Championship is planning to follow the same for LIV golfers.

Despite the great progress of the Saudi-backed league, some critics were still against the league. However, the latest shocking video posted by Flushing It Golf has shared a new development of a particular criticism. A few days back, Phil Mickelson’s comparison between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf surfaced in criticism. He argued that LIV events offer an environment and facilities where families can take their kids, which makes it better than their rival league.

Opposing it, one critic, Brandel Chamblee, has shared a reply on X slamming the claim of Mickelson. His reply to Phil’s thoughts was, “So Phil says kids get a better experience at events funded by a murderous regime than at events funded by a philanthropic organization… got it.” However, now, during the WM Phoenix Open, he has shown a different take on the PIF league by sharing the experience of playing golf with the president. After the news of the discussion between Jay Monahan, Adam Scott, and Donald Trump for the merger was shared in the commentary box. Chamblee went on to share his views after he met with the 47th POTUS last year.

When asked about the merger, he said, “Well look, I felt like it was inevitable after the election.” Continuing further, he shared how he got the opportunity to play golf with the President last year, where Trump, after each hole, shared why the merger could be great for the golf world. The critic who seems to be adamant about his claim for the PIF league has suddenly seemed to have changed sides.

After the conversation with Trump. Chamblee shares that, “At the end of the day did I agree with him? No, but I gotta say he made strong points all day long. He was, I wouldn’t say adamant about it, but he was as opinionated on one side of it as I was.” Further, he even said, “At the end of it. I would say he changed my mind. He made me think about Yasir as a partner in the game of golf.”

As the caption of the post pointed out, “Of course I understand why we need Saudi Arabia as a partner” The claim of getting his mind changed at the encounter with Trump last year has left fans thinking twice about Chamblee. This sudden change in perception has, of course, left fans with some tasteful things to say as well.

Fans probing Brandel Chamblee for his recent claim

Brandel Chamblee has had multiple encounters where he was seen opposing the Saudi-backed league. However, now with him speaking for the league has left fans shocked and questioning his stance.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Chamblee's change of heart a betrayal to golf purists or a necessary evolution?

Have an interesting take?

One of the fans wrote, “That guy is hypocrite clown,” while another commented, “He’s a clown.” The fans do not expect a sudden change in opinion. Chamblee has always questioned the decision of LIV Golf instead of celebrating it. Take the example of the Fox Sports deal, the biggest celebration for LIV. However, Chamblee had some questionable thoughts regarding it, “Looking forward to the specific financials, did Fox pay a rights fee or was this another time buy.” As evident Chamblee was also critical of LIV’s every move.

More fans joined, saying, “My oh my have the tides turned!” and “Now I didn’t expect this to ever happen🤣🤣🤣.” As Chamblee has never spoken for the Saudi-backed league, even fans had once asked him why he never speaks positively about LIV. To which he replied, “Why would anyone who is not being paid to obscure their objectivity “cover” LIV in a positive manner. The money comes from the sewer and the product stinks worse than the source.”

One fan questioned him, writing, “Interesting he played with Trump last year yet we’re just now getting this story now.” In the past year, Chamblee has opposed the league multiple times, but the fans addressing his quotes about getting his mind changed last year, left a question unanswered. On top of that if his mind had changed last year why was it brought to attention now?

The surprising change of thoughts from Brandel Chamblee has left the fans shocked. While this is a rare sight of his thoughts that could be witnessed. Maybe with the merger getting closer, the bigger picture is clearer to him. What are your thoughts on Brandel Chamblee’s switch? Share with us in the comments below.
