The LIV Golf Invitational London is finally here. This tournament has been under the spotlight for weeks, constantly sharing updates about players and more. With names like Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson on board, the new series has made it to the front line amidst all the drama.

The main focus has been on DJ committing, and Mickelson joining in a bit late.

A major change for players would be the format. There will be no cuts, while players are divided into teams. With events lined up at various venues, players will compete for an extravagant prize pool. With the first London event scheduled for June 9th, the team captains and names are revealed.

Apart from Mickelson and Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, and Kevin Na are other notable players who have been made captains. The names are a standout, along with the logos complementing them. Mickelson’s team, Hy Flyers, has an orange logo with a blue background; the H also looks like a ‘7’.

The Iron Heads come ahead with a grey logo, which is an iron-looking ‘H’.

Overall, the teams come together with quirky concepts, another aspect setting it apart from the PGA Tour. One major attraction is the $25 million dollar purse for the London event.

How much will the winning teams make?

Out of the $25 million, the top three teams win $5 million, while the other teams divide the $20 million. The winner will bag $4 million, certainly an upgrade from what players make at the Masters and PGA Championship. With no cuts and more money, all players will win a minimum of $120 thousand.

That being said, the event will commence on June 9th at the Centurion Club in London. With an elaborate schedule planned, future events will be played in the USA and Asia. Trump National Golf Club Bedminster and the Stonehill Golf Club are a few of the other venues included.
