The 2023 edition of the Honda Classic saw Chris Kirk emerging victorious. Moreover, he was able to clinch the win owing to a scintillating performance at 14-under 266 leading to a playoff with Eric Cole and subsequently winning the same. But, little did the champ know that from 2024, the event would be known differently.

A deal is being finalized with Cognizant that would lead to the golf world bearing witness to a change in the title sponsor for the former Honda Classic. Moreover, the event would see its name change to The Cognizant Classic, as per the name of the new company that would close the contract with the PGA Tour.

The information technology services and consulting company, has taken over the mantle of sponsors from the American company Honda for the event. And thus, the biggest sporting event in Palm Beach County would see a change in its name after a long duration of 42 years when it was known as the American Motors Inverrary Classic in 1981.
