The 2023 Wyndham Championship is all set to kick off at the Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina. The seventh oldest event on the PGA Tour apart from the Major championships, the Wyndham Championship is set to take place a week ahead of the FedEx Cup. Many golfers wish to participate in the final event of regular season making it a much anticipated sporting event.

As many top golfers have already qualified for the playoffs, the rest of the field would be willing to showcase their talent and technique on the day in hopes to win a ticket for the same. Let us take a closer look at the details of the tournament.

Field of the 2023 Wyndham Championship

The event is all set to start on August 3 with a field of 156 players taking on the Sedgefield course. The likes of Justin Thomas, Sam Burns, Adam Scott, and Shane Lowry among others will be headlining the tournament.

Thomas, the biggest name in the field, has been tipped to win the tournament this year as he hopes to win a playoff ticket. Tom Kim emerged as the champion last year, but he will not be seen at the tournament due to an unfortunate injury.

Many benefits await the winner alongside the prize money. For instance, he will be awarded with 500 FedEx Cup points along with the title and the trophy. The top 70 golfers on the FedEx Cup points list will qualify for the playoffs beginning with the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Last year, the tournament had a prize purse of $7.3 million. The purse value for the 2023 Wyndham Championship has been increased to $7.3 million, with the winner set to take home $1.368 million as opposed to the $1.314 million that Kim earned last year! The runner-up of the tournament will be making $828,400. Since the top players will get a chance for the playoffs, they will be looking to give it their all this year.
