There is a reason why Tiger Woods is deemed the best in the game. What’s more, he has been dubbed a legend owing to his many accolades. And, in turn, these achievements have led the Hall of Famer to rake in another feat in his 27-year-long career, none other than being able to top the world ranking list for the longest time!
However, what would it take to remain at the top? Well, it seems as if Scottie Scheffler would need the answer to the question in the coming future, as even the current No. 1 was left biting the dust by the Hall of Famer despite not being in the best of his forms, much to the surprise of the community. However, it isn’t as if there’s no solution to the problem.

Being the top golfer in the world has a nice ring to it. And Tiger Woods was able to achieve that dream many times during his long and ongoing career of 27 years. However, it seems as if that spot has currently been taken by another talented athlete, none other than the current World No. 1 Scheffler.
But even so, the 27-year-old is sorely lacking in terms of the total time spent in that position. Meanwhile, the 15X major champ has stayed at the top of the OWGR for a total of 683 weeks, all the while spending 281 weeks consecutively as World No. 1, nothing short of an impressive feat. Isn’t it?
However, Scheffler can also manage to clinch the feat. But, to do so, he would have to fork out the rest of his career as the top golfer to achieve the same. Currently, as of December 2023, the 6X PGA Tour champ has stayed in the position for a total of 65 weeks, starting in March 2022. And, in order to beat Mr. T, “he will need to stay at the top every week for 11 years and 10 months.” Well, he sure has “some catching up to do.”

It does seem like a far-fetched dream for someone like Scheffler, who is currently 27 years old. What’s more, he would need to put in the effort required for the next decade until he turns 37, and still some if he is to achieve it. Nevertheless, the 1X major champ would surely want to beat his idol Woods, of whom he is an ardent fanboy!

The Hero World Championship saw not just one but two comebacks, as Scheffler played the same after being on a short break from the game after the Ryder Cup. However, his attention ahead of the event was on none other than the 82X PGA Tour champ as he observed the legend practicing his game on the greens.

Continuing on, the golfer mentioned how seeing the 1997 Masters Tournament champ “hit balls and hearing that sound” is something that deserves his admiration. Moreover, he also praised the 47-year-old, as he dubbed him “different than the rest of us” while commenting on his gameplay.
