Brandt Snedeker has quite an impressive and enviable golf bio. He has won the Wyndham Championship twice, the Farmers Insurance Open, and even the Tour Championship in 2012, and a total of 9 wins on the PGA Tour. He is now living the life he has dreamt of as a child while he used to practice at Shelby Golf Course in Tennessee.

Next year in 2024 the course will complete its 100th anniversary in March and luckily on that occasion, the course which is in need of improvements had been given a phenomenal gift. On Thursday Nashville Mayor John Cooper announced a $2 million renovation project that will begin at Shelby and VinnyLinks which is also located in Shelby Park.

The improvements include uniting the winter and summer greens into one green complex on each hole. There will also be expanding the practice putting green five times more than its current size. Snedeker who was present at the media events said,”Being a Nashvillian, I grew up playing golf courses around here but Shelby is where I spent most of my time,” Snedeker said. “My dad would play here every day with the old chief of police Joe Casey.”

He said he has a lot of special memories of playing with his father on this course and getting it redesigned is a special moment for him. Besides changes on the green, the course will also feature new irrigation, replacement, and expansion of six tee boxes as well.

Brandt Snedeker says childhood range has been neglected

According to Snedeker, Shelby is the least-played course in the Metro Parks system in the Tennessee city. He added, “The access that this course can provide to a lot of Nashvillians that have not been traditional golfers is huge. But it’s in dire need of an upgrade.” Snedeker feels that the care of the course has been neglected over the last few decades.
