Not a full week has gone by since the golf world witnessed the impressive win by Scottie Scheffler. But the 12th event on the PGA Tour calendar has already captured the attention of many in the community. The reason is the 50th Anniversary of Military Appreciation Day at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. Well, this time around, the festivities will also include a concert.

Yes, you heard that right! Although the ceremony will feature a performance from Matthew Johnson, who is himself a former “The Voice” contestant, the highlight of the event will be a musical performance by a multi-platinum country star!

As part of its plans to honor and pay tribute to the veterans and active-duty service members of Northeast Florida, the PGA Tour event has brought in Cole Swindell, who will headline the concert at the tournament. The musical entertainment will take place on Tuesday, March 12, and will witness Island Green being rocked for an evening of excitement in commemoration of local service members.

Meanwhile, the winner of THE PLAYERS National Anthem Contest, Johnson, would also perform the Star-Spangled Banner before the concert takes place. That’s not all. The Military Appreciation Day festivities would also include discounts at fan shops and a job fair.

Additionally, the PGA Tour event would also provide the active duty, retired, reserve, and National Guard members along with one dependent a complimentary admission. They would be granted to go to the events on Tuesday, March 12, and Wednesday, March 13th along with a day of the competition, from March 14th-17th.

The officials of the tournament would be hoping to pull off a scintillating experience for the fans including the many servicemen and veterans. Such was the mindset of Lee Smith, Executive Director of THE PLAYERS as he took to express the same.

Remembering the military at THE PLAYERS Championship

“The entire team here at THE PLAYERS is proud to honor those who have sacrificed so much for not only our Northeast Florida community but for our country,” said Smith as he hoped to welcome the military members and their families once again. Adding on, he stated, “We are so excited to honor and thank our brave active-duty service members and veterans with these special initiatives throughout the course of the tournament.”

Meanwhile, the 49th anniversary, which took place at The PLAYERS was able to involve more than 22,000 military members and their families at the Patriots Outpost. Interestingly, the Outpost for the 2024 edition would be presented by CSX which is the tournament’s partner, to provide the military with a private venue reserved exclusively for them. It seems the golf world is in for an exciting weekend at TPC Sawgrass.
