Built in 1958 by George Cobb, the Par-3 Course came into existence because of Augusta National’s co-founder Clifford Roberts. Notably, it was just a 7-hole course when it was first established. However, in 1987, architect Tom Fazio built two new holes- the eighth and ninth holes.
Therefore, according to the new update about the course, only the two holes are still intact, as it was a couple of months ago. The professional golfer and golf analyst Paul Azinger had once referred 1,060-yard course as “the best golf course in the world.”

However, according to recent updates, everything has changed now. Only time can tell how the Par-3 Course will look after renovation is completed.
Golf fans react to the latest update about the Augusta National Par-3 Course!
Although the course was designed in 1958, the Augusta National added the Par-3 Contest as a tradition only in 1960. The event took place on the Wednesday of the Masters’ week. The most important and interesting fact about the competition is that it is a family event.
The family members of the golfers become their caddies and dress in all-white overalls. Hence, given how important the event and course mean to both golfers and fans, there is a growing concern regarding the renovations.
Many golf fans shared their opinions and ideas about the contest and the course in the comments section under the post.
Was there on Wed this year and had to evac 2x b/c of weather. The 2nd was from first tee of par-3, just about as far from the new entrance off Berckman’s as possible (except for those deeper in the par-3)

Is that a practice area top right? And I love the Par 3 Tournament. So much fun watching the guys and their kids. It is so much about golf and family’s.

I wonder who the architect is. Fazio again?

Seems like a good move. Hopefully they construct the area to accept grandstands for patrons.

Yep. Rye won't live through the summer. What you see in the spring is overseed.

Stunning. Guessing they are making room for more patron access.

Notably, the severe weather conditions at Augusta National this year have cut short the Par-3 Contest. In the end, Mike Weir and Mackenzie Hughes have been declared winners of the event.
