“I never thought I could play golf at a high level and care about someone else besides myself.” After turning pro in 2015, Xander Schauffele has garnered a total of 7 victories on the PGA Tour as well as raked in 57 top-10 finishes over his nine-year professional career. Suffice it to say, such an impressive record wouldn’t have been possible without the help of someone off the greens, namely his wife Maya Lowe.

However, it’s not as if being Schauffele’s wife is her only identity as a person, his soulmate herself boasts a successful career as a former healthcare administrator.

The two met in 2014 when they were still in college. Schauffele majored in Social Sciences while his now-wife graduated as a science and public health major from the University of California. Soon after, she began her career at a non-profit organization known as the Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest in 2015 where the athlete’s wife took up the role of a ‘Patient Flow Coordinator.’

She was then promoted to the position of ‘Center Manager Flex’ in 2017 and then subsequently to a ‘Per Diem Center Manager’ in the following year. Meanwhile, by 2019, the golfer’s wife had finished her Master’s degree in healthcare administration/management from the University of Maryland.

However, by 2022, Lowe decided to change her jobs and made an announcement that she would be taking on a more “active role” in her husband’s charitable body, the Xander Schauffele Family Foundation. Moreover, she also expressed her enthusiasm regarding the same and conveyed her eagerness in “making an impact” through the organization.

On the other hand, Maya has been very supportive of his golf career from the very beginning though she didn’t know much about the sport. Over the years, she has gained knowledge and even went on to caddie for her husband at the Masters Par 3 Contest in Augusta, Georgia. Schauffele had posted a picture on Instagram and captioned the post, “Glad to have this one on the bag for the Par 3 contest.”

Such a career path was not new to the golfer’s wife. Back when she was in college, Schauffele’s life partner was a Campus Ambassador for the Peace Corps and had also volunteered as an operations intern for a non-profit organization in San Diego, Project Concern International. This clearly shows the dedication she has for the society. And, it’s no wonder the athlete fell for her.

When did Schauffele tie the knot with Lowe?

The two got together in March 2014 soon after they met each other in college. Seven years later in January 2021, Schauffele proposed to his girlfriend in Maui to which she said ‘Yes’. As a result, the couple got married to each other at their home in Las Vegas in a private ceremony involving eight family members, one officiant, and their two dogs.

He was very emotional during the wedding. “Normally, I have a superpower when it comes to crying,” said the PGA Tour Pro before recounting how he couldn’t hold in his tears during the same; “Absolute waterworks.” Surely, the feeling would have been mutual. Now, the two are happily living their life with the professional dishing out scintillating performances one after the other. Truly a match made in heaven!
