Max Homa felt at ease during Zach Johnson’s Ryder Cup Team USA announcements. Being 5th in the U.S. rankings, the 32-year-old automatically qualified for Marco Simone and apparently skipped the captain’s picks livestream. Thus, he missed Johnson referring to him as the team’s “prom king.” The upcoming Ryder Cup is set to unfold from September 29th to October 1st at Rome’s Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

During an interview, Max Homa opened up about how he was more than excited to play with some of the PGA Tour stars. “I would like to play with Collin, Collin and I are super close and we didn’t play well at the Zurich this year because neither of us could figure out how to putt the ball under the ocean,” he stated, flaunting their bond. “We would be a very annoying alternate shot team to play against… “I think like we would do well in the foursome, just because we play similar games.”

He further added, “I do think it’s important to get along with the person you’re playing with when you are playing in that format.” Homa stated that he was eager to play alongside everyone, but he believed that he would make a great pair with Scottie Scheffler. Despite his thought process, however, there is no real clarity yet on whom he will be paired with.

One of Homa’s potential partners, Morikawa, secured a place on the U.S. Ryder Cup team through a captain’s pick and joined him. This marks the two-time major winner’s second appearance at the Ryder Cup, where he previously showcased a commendable 3-0-1 record in 2021. During that year, the U.S. clinched a historic 19-9 victory, the most commanding win in the event’s recent history. Considering the two have huge respect for each other, they may make a great pair.
