“Those are clown pants,” said an enraged fan on X after witnessing Jason Day’s attire at the 2024 Sentry. The golfer had joined hands with Malbon after splitting up with Nike following which he donned the new partner’s clothes. The reactions from the fans weren’t too pleasing to hear as well. And now, it seems as if the baton has shifted hands to Viktor Hovland, as the PGA Tour Pro’s new look was scrutinized by many on the internet.
A tweet was shared by NUCLR GOLF and Tracking Hovland, a fan page for the professional divulging the new attire that the Norwegian would be sporting at the upcoming major. Following the reveal of the new clothes by his apparel partner J. Lindeberg, the post also urged the followers to comment their thoughts on the same, causing much backlash to be directed at the new style.

The golfer is known for sporting vibrant dresses on the golf course. His outfit at the 2024 PGA Championship had also turned many heads. Thursday saw Hovland donning an all-blue ensemble followed by a leopard-printed polo and white pants on Saturday. But the reaction back then was not so much against the golfer as it is right now owing to his new “unique look.”

Golf world urges Viktor Hovland to drop the brand, dubs it as ‘horrid’
Back in the 2024 Sentry, Jason Day had worn a blue shirt and baggy pants with white spots, eliciting a lot of comments from the community. That’s not all. The 36-year-old had even been targeted by many on the internet for the kind of attire he wore at the Augusta National for the 2024 Masters. The jabs don’t seem to stop even now as ‘Malbon’ was brought in and compared to Hovland’s partner all the while teasing both for their look; “Absolutely horrid yet still better than Malbon.” Other followers, meanwhile, went a bit aggressive with their reaction as they commented, “This guy has to drop this brand. The apparel f**king blows,” and “Is the tournament being played at the circus?”
The Martin Kaymer-led team from the breakaway league can be spotted on the greens during an event wearing a green polo with white shorts. The sleek design of the shirt also consists of a golden Cleeks GC logo formed from the letter ‘C’ and a golf club. Case in point: a fan didn’t like the new look from the Norwegian such that they urged the golfer to jump to LIV Golf; “Get this man in @Cleeks_GC green & gold fast!“

What’s your perspective on:
Is Viktor Hovland's unique look a breath of fresh air in golf or just plain horrid?
Have an interesting take?
Viktor Hovland hasn’t had the best of starts to the year. From a total of 12 starts in 2024, the golfer boasts only a single top-10 finish at the PGA Championship. Besides, he also failed to make the cut two times at the other two majors in Augusta and the U.S. Open causing his rank to fall down from No. 4 to No. 7. A user on X couldn’t help but point out the same while responding, “4 outfits??? I love Viktor but the way he is playing he will probably just need two. I’ve bet a lot of money on him this year with ZERO return! Let’s get a W this week!”
The golf world sure didn’t shy away from speaking their mind on Viktor Hovland’s attire. They also didn’t mind bringing in Jason Day’s apparel partner to compare the two. What do you think? Do you feel his new look is better than his old one or that it needs more work?
