The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am witnessed misfortune plague the event over the final days of its play. Now, it appears the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course would also be victim to the anguish that bedeviled the second signature event of the 2024 PGA Tour calendar. The reason? Nothing short of incessant weather conditions!

A video was shared by a PGA Tour pro on his social media, showcasing the current conditions at the course that is hosting the upcoming tourney. Unfortunately, it seems to paint a bleak picture, leading to a concerning outcome similar to the event at Pebble Beach Golf Links, which inevitably led to it ending after 54 holes. Is there a similar situation on the cards at Phoenix?

Andrew Putnam posted the video to his X handle (previously known as Twitter), which displayed how he was “getting blasted” by raindrops at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course. The post, which was reshared by GOLF INJURY REPORT mentions how “Bad weather has followed the PGA Tour to Phoenix,” alluding to the previous event at Pebble Beach.

In addition, the Wednesday Pro-Am at the upcoming competition was canceled owing to the bad weather conditions. Surprisingly, the grounds at Maricopa County suffered heavy rainfall and hail, due to which it was called off. Although it cleared out later on, the course still needs to be drained. However, celebrities taking part in the event would still be able to hit a shot on the 16th at 2:30 PM local time.

Moreover, the tweet shared by the news handle also revealed how the community can expect “preferred lies” to be in effect during the tournament. As a result of the same, the golfers would be allowed to place a ball after cleaning within 6 inches of its original lay without any penalty. This is only if the event does take place and the greens, which, apparently, turned “into a river,” get cleaned and drained properly.

The WM Phoenix Open seems to be in a more perilous situation as opposed to the previous tourney. Why? Well, the signature event only experienced unplayable weather on the last day of the same.

What happened at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am?

The final day of play was called off at Pebble Beach Golf Links following extreme weather conditions. This led to the same being shortened to 54 holes. But this turned into a stroke of good luck for Wyndham Clark, as he was able to clinch his third PGA Tour victory without hitting a single shot on the fourth and final day of the signature event.

Initially, the Chief Referee of the PGA Tour planned to delay the tourney into Monday after analyzing the weather conditions. However, the storm affecting the Monterey Peninsula did not seem to let off leading to the circuit calling off the final day on Sunday itself. Well, as a similar situation brews up at Maricopa County, many fans would surely be disappointed if the event suffers a similar fate to the previous one.
