Every year, as the PGA Tour season ends, nominees for the PGA TOUR Player of the Year (Jack Nicklaus Award) are announced. Other nominees for the PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year (Arnold Palmer Award) are also unveiled at the same time. Five players are nominated for the Player of the Year award.

Following the nominations reveal, fans have already begun debates about who should take home the prestigious award this year.

Patrick Cantlay

The FedExCup Champion is a promising candidate for the award, also having won the Zozo Championship. Cantlay is also on the USA’s Ryder Cup team and has bagged seven top-ten finishes this season. The 29-year-old also made 19 cuts. He finished with a scoring average of 69.736, fifth on the Tour this season.

Bryson DeChambeau

Building on his 2020 US Open win, DeChambeau is an obvious addition to this list. The 27-year-old has played 22 events in total and has also won the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He was fourth with a 69,728 scoring average and seventh in the FedExCup. He also made 20 cuts along with nine top-ten finishes.

Harris English

With eight top-10 finishes and 22 cuts, Harris English is the third name on the list. He had a scoring average of 70.115, winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the Travelers Championship of all the 26 events he played.

Collin Morikawa

The 24-year-old is another nomination for the Player of the Year honor, winning the Open Championship along with the World Golf Championships-Workday Championship. Playing 23 events in total, he finished 26th on the FedExCup list. Morikawa had eight top-ten finishes and made 19 cuts.

Jon Rahm

Rahm is the fifth name on the list, his only victory in the 2021 US Open. However, the 26-year-old finished second on the FedExCup list, making 21 cuts and tour-leading 15 top-tens. He also led the scoring average with 69.300.

The Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards are determined by a member vote, with PGA TOUR members who played in at least 15 official FedExCup events during the 2020-21 season eligible to vote. Voting for the same will close on Friday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced at a later date. Will Zalatoris and Garrick Higgo are the two Rookie of the Year nominations.
