One could have asked for a better start at the 2024 Wyndham Championship! The 36th event on the PGA Tour calendar witnessed a significant delay to the start of its first round. Consequently, the first round teed off only on Friday morning, only for it to be called off later that day due to darkness. As a result, the rest of the first round ended on Saturday, with the trend of round suspension owing to darkness continuing and the rest of the day’s play set to be played out on Sunday. Even so, the field of golfers seems ever more enthusiastic to clinch the title of champion and rake in that prize money!
Yes, you heard that right. As is the case with every event on the PGA Tour, the Wyndham Championship also boasts a lucrative purse on offer to its athletes. The event, per the official PGA Tour announcement, has set aside a whopping $7.9 million as the total prize purse for the golfers. The winner of the tournament, meanwhile, will receive a cut of $1.422 million as opposed to the runner-up, who will rake in a cut of $861,100.
