Just a week before the second major of the season, the PGA Tour moves to Quail Hollow Golf & Country Club for its next event. The Wells Fargo Championship will kick off on May 9 and will be the final signature event before the start of the 2024 PGA Championship. It is, thus, very important for those players who hope to have a good start ahead of the major.

Seven of the top 10 golfers on the OWGR will tee it off at the upcoming event on the Jay Monahan-led circuit. As a result, many in the community would be naturally curious about when these athletes, who are dubbed the best in the sport at the moment, will start off their play on both rounds to grab a cut of the elevated $20 million.

Who to watch out for in Florida

Being the sixth signature event on the Jay Monahan-led circuit, the Wells Fargo Championship boasts a powerful field with a total of 69 golfers. The likes of McIlroy (No. 2), defending champ Wyndham Clark (No. 3), in-form Xander Schauffele (No. 4), and Viktor Hovland (No. 7), among others, will tee it off alongside each other at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Clark will look to increase his tally of wins to four while hoping to rake in his second victory in 2024 following the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Following him closely would be none other than Schauffele, who has a total of seven top-10 finishes from 10 starts, including a T2 at the PLAYERS Championship, where he scored an overall 19-under.

Ludvig Aberg, who is currently ranked No. 6 on the OWGR, withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship, citing issues with his knee. Meanwhile, Peter Malnati moved on to the Aon Next 10 category instead of the Swedish professional, making him part of the list which includes Matthieu Pavon, Shane Lowry, Stephan Jaeger, and Will Zalatoris alongside other Tour Pros.
